The Threshold investigates the condition of liminality as a space where opposing forces coexist without resolution. Rather than representing a physical boundary, the painting explores the threshold as a psychological and existential condition in which separation and connection occur simultaneously.
The vertical structure that traverses the composition functions as an unstable axis, organizing fragmented chromatic fields while resisting fixed interpretation. Instead of dividing space, it creates a zone of negotiation where multiple states remain in continuous tension. The work reflects on the experience of inhabiting moments in which certainty dissolves and new possibilities have not yet fully emerged.
Abstraction is fundamental to this investigation because liminal experiences cannot be reduced to recognizable images. Through layered materiality, shifting textures and dynamic spatial relationships, the painting opens an interpretative field in which viewers encounter their own perceptions of transition, distance and transformation. The Threshold proposes that meaning is generated not through permanence, but through the continuous negotiation between separation and encounter.
