“The Champagne Queen” – The Story Behind
With this work, I present a joyful and hopeful vision of contemporary society within a rapidly evolving technological world. Through my visual language, I aim to create awareness of the time in which we live.
The woman represents strength, confidence, vitality, and humor — essential elements of life. She embodies the modern woman who effortlessly combines tradition with contemporary style, remaining true to herself and fully in her element. Standing proudly on high heels with a large hat carrying snacks and drinks, she celebrates life with playful elegance on the golf field. The piece was inspired by a woman known as “The Champagne Queen,” whose charisma and joie de vivre sparked this vision.
The painting is created in my signature Barcode style, a romanticized representation of contemporary society. Themes such as inclusion and the beauty of a colorful, diverse community appear in harmony — reflecting my ideal vision of society.
The figures stand closely side by side, hand in hand, symbolizing equality and solidarity. Regardless of origin, color, culture, orientation, or appearance, every individual is equal. If more people embraced this vision, society could move toward a fairer and more harmonious future.
The woman in the foreground is intentionally depicted on a larger scale. Her presence represents responsibility, courage, and leadership rather than power. She symbolically takes the lead, inspiring action toward a better, more sustainable world, and embodies the potential of individual initiative to spark collective change.
Humor and playfulness are central to the work. The scene blends realism and fiction: elegantly dressed women in high heels traverse a golf course, while a recurring character, affectionately nicknamed “the observer,” adds whimsy. This playful imagery was inspired by a company outing where I participated in “Boerengolf.” The combination of sophistication, leisure, and subtle humor highlights joy and vitality in everyday life.
All elements reflect my observations of society, a harmonious blend of reality and imagination. Joy, connection, humor, and playfulness form the heart of the composition, visible in the expressions and interactions of the figures.
Beyond the canvas, I connect my art with social engagement by supporting underprivileged children with educational and essential resources. Through these efforts, I reaffirm my belief that art can serve as a catalyst for awareness, reflection, and positive change.
As humans, every action we take shapes the world around us. We all have a choice, choose wisely.
Unique element: in the original artwork, the pomegranate on the head of the fifth figure from the right is red, while in the Piezography print it appears orange.

Inspired by the barcode, I transform it into a visual language that tells a story about Humanity – Equality – Connection
The barcode is an abstract translation of real information, with the punch card as its predecessor and the QR code (Quick Response) as its successor.
In my art, I translate this in my own way into realism and fiction, reflecting the innovative and constantly evolving society of our time in topics such as science, AI, inclusion, fashion, and the changing timeline of our era.
Through my art, I create awareness, stimulate self-reflection, and connect art with people and society.
My contribution to society is that for more than twenty years I am supporting underprivileged children with education and essential resources for a better future through my Shoe Project.
An additional element that makes my work unique is that the longer you look, the more hidden details and surprises reveal themselves.
