The “Mirror” series draws inspiration from my
travels where I like to document a large variety of places: landscape, architecture,
museums. It is my way to get a grasp of the place and it is usually the
starting place of a new project. The works mirror the experiences I had then,
focused on a fragment which introduces the
viewer in the painting, hence the preference for detailed images. When placed together, the round
compositions resemble the Renaissance tondo, filtered through a personal
perspective. Blue and silver colours are used to mirror glimpses of reality and
sculptural shapes.
Sculptures are juxtaposed with fragments of landscape, a dialogue
between man-made works and nature. Water is an element that changes constantly
and its fluidity speaks differently to each of us. I wanted to recreate the
feeling of looking at the waves or at the sky through a window. The round compositions also reflect fleeting
moments, like a fragment of the time I try to keep.
