That evening, I stood at the sink, ready to sober up with a cold shower, as I had for over a decade. But as the water flowed through my fingers, I gazed at the oval pool, the rippling water and its reflections, and a powerful image suddenly gripped me:
What if this washbasin was someone's entire universe? Once the thought occurred, it became unshakable. I immediately conjured two distinct approaches to life, navigating this "microcosm."
I painted them together in the same painting. The "swimmer" achieves infinite freedom within a limited scope; the "thinker," while possessing a global perspective, can suffer from spiritual stagnation. It's a delicate balance, an outward manifestation of two inner voices: one urging me to immerse myself in life and experience it to the fullest; the other urging me to withdraw and observe calmly.
This washbasin is a microcosm of each of our lives. This is what I want to capture—that unresolved moment of existence.
