Diptych. 2x70x100cm
In the free cycle "Míjení" I
focus on the topic of misunderstanding, loneliness, abandonment and lack of
empathy in contemporary society. Digital society creates a large number of information channels,
places to meet, share experiences, stories. We have smart phones, smart apps,
smart TVs and computers. We
have smart grids and smart cars. Today and every day we meet virtually on the network. We live our lives in the digital space,
but in the physical space we often fail to meet, contact each other and thus
face physical and psychological loneliness. And that despite the number of likes and friends in our network. I took the idea with the mask from the
older paintings of the "Covid-19 Syndrome" cycle, where the mask
partly prevented the spread of disease, but at the same time also separated one
person from another. It
created both a physical and a psychological barrier. Barriers to contact characterized this entire tragic period. The hands are open to grasp the other,
but at the same time they do not find him. Although they are in direct contact. The painting is conceived as
a diptych. The upper part is
drawn using natural and artificial charcoal. Masks are then created with the help of masking tape. The lower part is a simple linear
drawing in Chinese ink.
