Technique: mixed media on paper
One of the artist's recurring fields of exploration is the concept of symbiosis — as seen in phenomena such as lichen (the coexistence of algae and fungi) or wood-decaying fungi that sustain forest ecosystems through decomposition.
She artistically examines this natural phenomenon, which serves as proof that nature is not (only) based on rivalry, but also on collaboration and companionship. By merging collage, diverse etching techniques, and ink drawing, the artist seeks to create a unique visual language while questioning the way we see and interact with our environment.
In her series Cartographies du Vivant, she explores the links between micro- and macroscopic structures through the aesthetics of cartography. This series speaks about the visible and invisible connections between forms of life – plants, fungi, even human cells – and the landscapes they inhabit. For her, maps visualize geological, ecological and social structures from above – patterns she finds again in roots, ramifications and even blood vessels. By combining these collages with prints and drawings of organic forms, she invites viewers to rethink the way nature – and life in general – is documented and categorized.
