Technique: Edition of 5 Linoprints on hemp paper
During her stay in Bretagne, France, Caroline Elisabeth was exploring the flourishing wilderness of the regional flora. Dryopteris, commonly called wood fern, is a certain species of fern growing in the ancient forests of this peninsula. Already existing since the Carboniferous (300 million years ago), it is one of the oldest living plants on earth - that's why the artist associates them with the concepts of endurance and resilience in her artistic language. Inspired by ancient botanical illustrations, she transferred her locally made sketches into stylized linoprints in order to capture the plant's essence.
