"Luar", amongst Siebra's most recent paintings, is part of a larger research regarding the pratice of silicogravura. Paula's research rises from her philosophy of work which is very intricated with local subjects and visualities related to the place she was born: Northeastern Brazil. Known as the art of drawing with colored-sand inside glass bottles, silicogravura is a traditional manifestation in the artists' homeland, Ceará. Using the compositions of the bottles as a starting point, Paula has been developing paintings with many layers of color and composing in a vertical logic that refers not only to this practice – that represents a very important heritage to her people and place of origin –, but also to Post-Impressionism, especially the Nabis.
