"Mary Uncovered" Series: Maria, Medium: Watercolor
“Mary Uncovered” reimagines the Virgin Mary not as the grieving mother of devotional tradition, but as a young woman in the full wildness of her divine feminine nature — dancing, free, and entirely her own. The figure moves in a state of deep inner communion, her body a vessel rather than an object, her energy centers marked in gold along the spine as ascending cosmic symbols of empowerment and awakened Kundalini flow.
Where centuries of iconography have fixed Mary in sorrow and stillness, this painting asks a different question: who was she before grief was asked of her, and who does she remain beneath it? The work proposes an answer in movement rather than doctrine — a Mary uncovered, liberated, wild-spirited, closer in spirit to the archetype of the White Goddess than to the mourning figure most familiar to us.
