"Follow the Light"
Levys embodied practice rejects the separation of corporeal being and mind, valuing intuition, sensation and physical experience equally with intellectual analysis.
She works from a space of diasporic intersectionality working across site-specific, mixed media and painterly practice.
"Follow the Light" maps emotional and physical terrain, layering experience, stories and imagery.
The delicately layered remnants form series of allegorical landscapes, informed by an interweaving of memory and surrounding physical, intellectual and sensual landscapes.
Built up by layers of Acrylics, Inks and Chalk on unprimed Belgian canvas, the work opens space for though, memory and dream-like interpretations.
The process is reminiscent of both Surrealist esoteric practices and Abstract Expressionistic search for ascendance beyond failing socio-political environments.
