Levy employs acrylic paints, pigments, ink and pastel on silk utilising a staining method developed while living iin Berlin and moving through the world, synthesising personal trauma and political/social uncertainty into beauty and harmony.
For this body of work Silk is employed, reminiscent of skin, both extremely fine and resilient .
This base material, provides a translucent surface for the alchemy of emotional, sensual experiences.
This piece came about after another epic torrential rain on the Australian North Coast in 2023.
The deluge caused the river to flood the Valley, small islands of farm land emerging as the water receded.
The calm and powerful beauty of the temporary lakes formed was a sublime reminder of the grace by which humans survive on the planet amongst elements that can overwhelm at any moment.
