The light and dark sides of AI polarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon that appears in many areas of life.
This also applies to artificial intelligence (AI), which has both positive and negative aspects on applications and effects. The diptych depicting the bright and depicting the dark side of AI is intended to illustrate this dual nature. The binary codes in the images include the quote from Steve Jobs “We should use technology to protect the world to make it a better place.” (in german) and the word YES in red (= the bright side) as well significant passages from the novel "1984" (in german) and the word HELP in red (= the dark side).
The light side of AI is straightforward and transparent, while the dark side is convoluted and inscrutable.
These elements together should give the viewer the possibility to think about the risks of AI and reflect on the responsibility associated with its use.
