Between Fire and Freedom
Oil on canvas, 73 × 140 cm, 2026
This painting is part of my ongoing series Between Fire and Freedom, a body of work that reflects on displacement, war, and the fragile space between fear and hope.
As an immigrant from Iran, my work is deeply connected to my homeland and to the emotional realities experienced by those who continue to live there. Since 2025, the escalation of conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States has created an atmosphere of uncertainty, where everyday life is overshadowed by the possibility of violence.
The work speaks of a suspended existence, where hope for freedom coexists with fear of destruction. It is not only a reflection on the experience of war in Iran, but also on the universal condition of living in uncertainty, carrying the desire for safety while knowing that home itself can become fragile.
