*Born in 1984 in Iran, based in Germany*
Hiva Rashidzadeh holds a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. As an artist who emigrated from Iran and has been living in Germany since 2015, her work is deeply influenced by experiences of displacement, migration, and war.
Her paintings explore the human condition within spaces of transition and uncertainty. The figures inhabit suspended realms between origin and destination, war and peace, memory and future. Through these in-between states, Hiva reflects on the emotional and psychological realities of migration and forced displacement.
This series addresses the ongoing journey of immigrants and victims of war, portraying transition not as a temporary phase but as a continuous condition marked by hope, fear, loss, resilience, and remembrance. Her works engage with fundamental questions that arise at pivotal moments in life: Does war lead to freedom? Can migration become a form of liberation?
The figures in her paintings exist in a space between what has been left behind and what has not yet been reached, embodying the uncertainty, longing, and transformation that define the experience of migration.
