The work was born at the beginning of the lockdown here in Italy. The inspiration came to me while walking through the streets.I chose to make it in the form of a diptych because I wanted to give the impression of real casual photo shots taken along the way.
Here the text accompanying the work:
“Everyday I go out wearing a mask to go to my studio one kilometer from home in Milan. I walk completely empty streets, around me buildings line the street and, in perspective, other distant buildings. People are locked in their homes. It is as if humanity were now one with their houses. Giants enduring in silence”.
About the production of the work: I started with photos I came across on Instagram and that were enthusiastically granted to me by the author. The two shots depicted brutalist, low-income, buildings on the suburbs of Sofia, perfect as a starting material for composing the digital collages I had in mind. The title of the work comes from the house numbers of the buiding in the original photos. This is a small but significant story of resilience. In those days two guys, poets in their own way, who did not know each other decided to overcome the anguish by starting to collaborate at a distance.
