Parco Balossa is a piece of nature that strenuously resisted building assault in Milan, Italy. I made an anthropomorphic landmark, symbol of resilience, a guardian inspired by the Parco dei Mostri of Bomarzo, the mysterious giants of Isla de Pascua, and the Japanese UFO-Robots. A gentle giant, and a refuge for birds, the Prono.
The permanent installation is composed by an iron structure of recycled Innocenti tubes, symbol of building construction, and the planting of two types of climbing plants that change color according to the seasons, Parthenocissus quinquefolia and a type of ivy. In winter the sculpture loses its leaves, leaving the ramifications visible, as if they were the blood system of the sculpture.
When an art work generates place.
