Read MoreI am a Taiwanese contemporary artist whose work is rooted in Taiwan’s cultural heritage. Through contemporary art, I explore the relationship between land, cultural memory, and the continuity of tradition.
The foundation of my practice is the series Mother Earth: Guardians of Taiwan, in which I portray Mother Earth as twelve feminine manifestations, each representing a different region of Taiwan. Rather than depicting geography, these figures symbolize the spirit of the land and the invisible connection between people, culture, and the places they call home.
A defining element of my work is the use of traditional Taiwanese Hakka floral fabric. Once a familiar part of everyday life, this textile is gradually disappearing from contemporary society. Instead of treating it as a nostalgic object, I reinterpret it through contemporary art, giving it a new visual language and allowing it to continue evolving in the present.
Through my work, I hope to introduce Taiwan’s cultural heritage to international audiences and demonstrate that tradition does not belong only to the past—it can continue to grow, transform, and inspire through contemporary art.
