Aglaya Kuznetsova is a Moscow-based multidisciplinary artist and curator. Her versatile practice spans drypoint and monotype printmaking, textiles, silicone, as well as digital and immersive media.
She completed her Foundation in Art and Design (specializing in Fine Art) and later graduated with a degree in Contemporary Illustration from the British Higher School of Art and Design in 2021.
In 2021, Kuznetsova created her first major series, Still Life, exploring the essence of life through the lens of mortality. This series established her signature approach of juxtaposing conceptual dichotomies—a theme that remains central to her practice. Still Life was selected for Blazar 2022, Russia's premier and highly influential art fair for emerging talent, where the majority of the exhibited works were acquired by private collectors.
Kuznetsova’s practice is deeply rooted in myth-making and the exploration of opposites, driven by a commitment to confronting different facets of existence within a single piece. Her work delves into profound themes of mortality, human function, wholeness, and solitude.
Her works have been widely showcased across prominent exhibitions, festivals, and art fairs throughout Russia, including presentations at Cube.Moscow, a key innovative art cluster and incubator for leading galleries, and The Third Place. Furthermore, her artistic legacy is institutionalized through her inclusion in the archive of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, the country's leading and most prestigious institution for contemporary culture.
