The young artist Ivayla Geneva is born in Sofia in the year 2003. Since 2024 she's been based in the city of Venice, where she studies at the Venice Fine Arts Academy, in the department of Painting: Pictorial languages and theory, in Atelier 12.

Artist statement

My work revolves around the psychology of physical spaces, that more often than not become a metaphor of the recent life experiences that I’ve had.
Making use of my photo library, I carefully select details of landscapes mostly derived from Italy and Bulgaria, which I then proceed to intertwine into new and unique standalone places. The final product of this process stands as a symbolic representation of my identity.
In my art there’s a constant dialogue between homesickness and the thrill of discovery, and that is what guides my current phase of artistic exploration.

La mia ricerca ruota attorno alla psicologia dei luoghi, che talvolta diventano suggestive metafore delle mie recenti esperienze di vita.
Attingendo al mio archivio fotografico, seleziono dettagli di paesaggi della Bulgaria e dell’Italia, che successivamente intreccio in vedute unitarie e coerenti. Il dipinto, nato da questo processo di ricomposizione, diventa una rappresentazione simbolica della mia identità.
Nella mia pratica convivono e dialogano costantemente la nostalgia di casa e il fascino della scoperta, che guidano la mia ricerca in questa fase della mia vita.
