LIVES AND WORKS
DATE OF BIRTH
Vincent Brédif, Sculptor. Born in 1966, he began sculpting stone at the age of ten, taught by his father. Through the years Vincent has diversified his artistic exploration, his skillbase, his media... to embrace : 1980 photography ; 1983 mechanics ; 1991 scenography; 1992 music; 1996 monumental sculpture; 2000 sculpting with space, sound and light ; 2005 film ; 2009 dance.
This rich and varied creative journey lead him, in 2011, to conceive of a new creation, the synthesis of all his artistic reflection and of his multitude of skills and talents: the “Constellation Imaginaire”.
The lines that he installs, held tensioned in place within the landscape through the use of cords and wires, are the rays of light from the stars that form each imaginary “Constellation”. Within them, they capture the space, the movement, the sound. They vibrate.
An alphabet of colours is used to decorate these lines, each colour symbolising an element, a sensation, an emotion. Writing in the sky. Contemplating a constellation from every angle, each perspective expresses a new notion. The visual poetry reveals itself.
To find the place, to listen to the space, to sense it, feel it.
On the wall of a building, in a park, on the shoreline of an ocean.
His work invites us to contemplate all that is captured within the constellation: that of the natural world, of spirituality, of life and of the world that we are all in the process of constructing.
Julien Fajardo qualified as an architect in 2005, having studied and graduate at the Belgium school
of architecture, La Cambre, and at the Facoltà di Architettura di Ferrara, Italy.
He began his career in the French architectural offices of Jean Nouvel and François Seigneur. Then collaborated in Spain with the architect Juan Domingo Santos, notably on the winning project competition « Atrio de la Alhambra » in 2011 with the Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza.
Julien has been invited regularly since 2009 by La Escuela Téchnica Superior de Arquitectura in Grenada. There, with CUAC architects, he coordinated the construction of an ephemeral pavilion built out of Tetrabricks, exhibited at the 17th Biennale Architettura in Venice in 2021.
Since 2006, Julien Fajardo has been working free-lance, developing his own architectural and bespoke design projects. He approaches every aspect of these projects in a manner that is both technically meticulous and singularly inventive. In general he likes to work on smaller scale projects which allow him to master the whole of the construction personally, down to the finest of details. As example, he designed “Monsieur”, a Parisian jewellers and prize-winning in Paris Shop&Design 2018 competition.
He loves to build prototypes and scale models, in a constant desire to experiment with life-sized forms in space, structures, with different materials and techniques for assembly. In this process he realizes his own workshop, the Sugar[WORK]Station, installed in 2016 in the north of Paris.
During the summer of 2021, in partnership with the sculptor Vincent Brédif, Julien conceived and built “Les Voisins”, a prize-winning “ArchiSculpture” for the Festival des Cabanes in Annecy, France.
