Faust Degada (aka Fausto Crocetta)

Faust Degada is a musician who loves to experiment with creativity, initially in the
production of decorative objects (see the Silicone Vases selected at MACEF 2000, mirrors, and
more). He subsequently continued his research through the development of images
that represent those "other worlds" that his eyes glimpse in hidden parts or reflections
of the reality that surrounds us. He began by using resins and colors in abstract paintings and then moved on to
the experimental use of photography.
These "visions" are isolated, enlarged, and elaborated, thus giving shape to images that
seem to belong to unknown planets, infinite seas, deserts at twilight, dreamy horizons... "occult worlds" that Fausto's transformative action brings to light, along with the moods
and emotions that accompany them, and which therefore cannot fail to resonate
with the internal worlds of those who observe them.
His research has recently led him to use photography to create sculptural forms.
Combining it with resins, he creates plastic bodies, paintings, vases—materials that foreshadow a near future
when "waste" plastic will merge with rock, unfortunately becoming part of our
geological cycle (which is already happening).
His way of experimenting, first with electronic music, and now also with another
"artificial" product—plastic—creates new things, revealing a new "Plastìc" beauty.
MUSIC
After classical studies and a diploma in bassoon from the Conservatory, in 1983 he founded "Degada Saf," one of the
first electronic music groups in the Veneto region. In 1984, the vinyl album "No
Inzro" (Rockgarage) was released, receiving much positive criticism from both the specialized press and the
New Wave electronic music public, who, in many cases, considered it one of the most original Italian works
of the era, breaking away from both Italian and English-speaking norms. In 2023, the music magazine
"Rumore" included it in its "100 essential Italian New Wave and Post-Punk albums," and the Rough
Trade Shop in London described it as "...what's so astounding about this lost gem is how fully modern it
sounds...". In 1985, he collaborated with Giusto Pio, signed to Angelo Carrara's Target label and the
Polygram label. In 1986, he appeared on RAI (Variety) and Canale 5.
From 1987, he stopped for several years (he founded various projects, including the SEISEI Club in 1990).
In 2008, he released a new album entitled "Without Religions" (IRMA).
In 2010, the Degada Saf project ended, and he continued as a solo artist as Faust Degada. In 2010, he
reissued the album "No Inzro" on CD (Mannequin). In 2013, he released his solo album "Lux&Uria" (German distributor
NOVA MD). He participated in the "AsoloArtFilmFestival" in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, he performed live with Alva Noto,
Hall, Padua. In 2020, he released the album "Foresto" (Casal Gajardo Records). In 2022, he released the album "SAYSAY"
(GTMUSIC DIST.).
ARTE
Faust Degada è un musicista che ama sperimentare anche nell’ambito creativo, inizialmente nella produzione di oggetti per l’arredamento (vedi Vasi Siliconici selezionati al MACEF 2000, specchi e altro). Continua successivamente il suo percorso di ricerca attraverso l’elaborazione di immagini che rappresentano quei “altri mondi “ che i suoi occhi intravedono in parti nascoste o in riflessi della realtà che ci circonda. Inizia utilizzando resine e colori in quadri astratti per poi passare all’utilizzo della fotografica in modo sperimentale.
Queste “visioni” vengono isolate, ingrandite, elaborate e prendono così forma immagini che sembrano appartenere a pianeti sconosciuti, mari infiniti, deserti al crepuscolo, orizzonti da sognatore......”mondi occulti “ che l’azione trasformativa di Fausto porta alla luce insieme agli stati d’animo e le emozioni che li accompagnano e che per questo non possono non entrare in risonanza con i mondi interni di chi li osserva.
Le sue ricerche lo portano, ultimamente, ad utilizzare la fotografia per creare forme scultorea.
Abbinandola a resine nascono così corpi plastici, quadri, vasi , materia che prospetta un futuro prossimo quando la plastica “rifiuto” fonderà con la roccia diventando purtroppo parte del nostro ciclo geologico (cosa che sta già avvenendo).
Ecco che il suo modo di sperimentare, prima con la musica elettronica, ora anche con un altro prodotto “artificiale” la plastica, crea cose nuove rivelando una nuova bellezza “ Plastìc".
MUSICA
Dopo gli studi classici e diploma in Fagotto al Conservatorio,
nel 1983 fonda “DEGADA SAF” uno dei primi gruppi di musica elettronica del Veneto .
1984 viene pubblicato l’album in vinile “No Inzro” (Rockgarage)
riscuote molte critiche positive sia dalla stampa
specializzata, sia dal pubblico amante della New Wave elettronica che,
in molti casi, lo considera uno dei lavori italiani più originali dell’epoca,
fuori dagli schemi sia Italiani che Anglofoni. Nel 2023 la rivista musicale
“Rumore” lo inserisce nei 100 dischi essenziali New Wave e Post- Punk Italiani
e definito dal Rough Trade Shop di Londra “...what’s so astounding about this
lost gem is how fully modern it sounds...”.
Nel 1985 collaborazione con Giusto Pio, contratto con la Target di Angelo Carrara
e con l’etichetta Polygram.
1986 apparizione in RAI (Variety) e Canale 5.
Dal 1987 STOP per diversi anni.
2008 - esce un album dal titolo “Without Religions”, (IRMA).
2010 -il progetto Degada Saf termina, prosegue da solista come Faust Degada.
2010 - ristampa in cd dell’album “No Inzro” (Mannequin).
2013 - album solista “Lux&Uria” (dist.tedesca NOVA MD).
2017 2018 “AsoloArtFilmFestival.
2018 Live con Alva Noto, Hall,Padova.
2020 album “Foresto” (Casal Gajardo Records).
