Alessandra Maoggi a.k.a. Russell Giacosa is based in Florence, Italy. Her artistic practice focuses on the relationship human beings entertain with themselves and the notion of alterity and more specifically, issues related to the present times. Her work combines performance, text, video, visual arts, movement and sound, while engaging public spaces.

Russell Giacosa is an artist who cannot and wishes not to appear in public, nor declare his origins. Alessandra Maoggi acts as his performer, interpreter.

Thus, the alter ego Russell Giacosa allow for the artist to accumulate new identities – real or imaginary –, new embodied realities.
