Types of Evolution explores how artificial intelligence can interpret and visualize transformation. The installation invites participants to submit a single word—any word—via their smartphone. In response, the system generates a real-time visual and narrative sequence that speculates on how the chosen concept might evolve—across time, form, or context.
While the work focuses on “evolution” as a primary lens, the underlying principle is adaptable to any conceptual trajectory—such as “decay,” “influence,” or “resistance.” The system is capable of transforming any abstract or concrete term into a speculative visual logic. For example, if a viewer submits the word “memory,” the AI might generate a sequence where memory develops from biological encoding to cloud-based digital systems—or, in another interpretive mode, it might gradually dissolve, reflecting processes of forgetting or manipulation.
In this way, the installation reveals a universal mechanism: a single word becomes an entry point into complex ideas, and AI becomes a tool for unfolding their possible futures. It’s not only an interactive experience, but also a framework for exploring how language, meaning, and machine imagination intersect.
