Painted or digitally
created? Neither! The unedited photographs by Heike Baltruweit reflect the
detail exactly as it was in front of the camera lens when the shutter was
pressed down.
Superficially, the work "Subway spotting 9" seems to be
painted with large brushstrokes, perhaps a portrait seen from the side. If one
delves deeper into the picture, blue surgical masks and faces are recognisable.
The artist Heike Baltruweit has photographed people at an underground station in Hamburg, not directly, but as a distorted reflection in the ceiling
tiles of the platform. She makes the location and her way of photographing
visible with augmented reality - viewed through the camera of the free app
