Vita come saliente avidità is a broad project that embraces sculpture,
performance and video.
The cornerstones of the project’s research and development are the rituals of
love and fight in the animal and human worlds; from these emerges a vision of
the “naked” human being as a fragile creature in the face of the vastness and
uncontrollable forces of Nature.
We have always had to create objects that would allow our bodies to defend,
attack and protect.
The first sculptural part of the project came to life during the “Open Studio”
residency at the historic Fonderia Artistica Battaglia in Milan,
The project is divided into three acts: Dressing, Fighting and Care.
In the first act, combatants dressing each other with an armor of hot wax.
In the second act, fighters can use bronze weapons and their free body
knowledge.
The actions performed in the fight manipulates the armor, the collision of bodies
and weapon transform and shape.
The weapons become true tools of combat and sculptural modeling.
At the end of each fight at least two parts of the wax armor are cast in bronze.
The third act highlights the importance of wounds and trauma,
These pieces of metal armors are worn again by others, in a gesture of caring
for other’s bodies and the wounds inflicted on them.
With the passage of time and repetition of the performance we will create a kind
of impossible, fantastic armor composed of multiple bodies.
