Above and Below ruins is a narration of an eternal suspension of a fictitious present, where time does not exist
because it has crumbled with the earth. In that suspension between life and
death, on the night of 6 April 2009, the date of the tragic earthquake that
struck L'Aquila, a medical student tries to build her own time, in those
moments under pieces of concrete that seem eternal to her, to grasp to reality
to stay alive, or to what appears to be an illusion.
That experience of suspension returns like a dream, like an existential
paradigm of memory, which unites the human condition, of more or less
significant events, and which have to do with liquid sensations and dilated
times that we are not always able to classify, or to overcome .
Everything remains alive in the memory, in the dream, in the dark of the
mind, in an oniric condition without dimension.
It's been April 6 every year since that moment.
