Four episodes linked together by the Japanese myth of kitsune are fragmented in a dreamlike flow of images, sounds, colors, objects, animals, characters and scenarios. It is not a linear story or a traditional narrative therefore, but a range of possible directions, a field of meanings that can be covered in any sense. Inspired by the aesthetic principles of ancient Japan and the spirit of haiku, the video combines electroacoustic music, photos, real shots, classic Japanese woodcuts and animated drawings to investigate the unconscious and search, in the imagination and in the inner world, for a common basis between cultures. Myths sleep, waiting to be awakened like embers in ashes, and express constants of the psyche regardless of their geographical origin. "La Volpe" blows on the ashes and shows what has flared up.
