The chords resonate, images of veiled women's faces, Octavio's half face resembling the violinist: La Bruja de Texcoco. In this short documentary film, filmmakers Cecilia Villaverde and Alejandro Paredes daringly delve into the duality of the human being through the deconstruction and reconstruction of Octavio, who finds in La Bruja de Texcoco an autonomous identity from which they can question both themselves and machismo culture in Mexico. In their transvestism, they discover a power that echoes in their body, their voice, and the magic of her presence. The documentary serves as a starting point to explore, from the intimacy and sensitivity of the trans experience though music, the most inventive Mexican folklore as rituals of femininity, akin to holy water. Is La Bruja de Texcoco our alter ego? This documentary takes us on a journey through the origin and destiny of a woman who immerses herself in her dearest fantasies until she brings them to life, such as the longing to be a mermaid.
