Dream Land is a public art proposal that transforms Mingren Island in Liaocheng, China, into an imaginary landscape where reality and fantasy gently overlap. Rather than redesigning the island through conventional urban planning, the project introduces a constellation of sculptural interventions that invite visitors to experience the city through curiosity, play and emotional discovery.
The colourful forms do not function as monuments or isolated artworks. They become spatial characters that shape movement, generate encounters and encourage new relationships between people, nature and the urban environment. Walking through the island becomes an open narrative, where each path reveals a different atmosphere and every installation offers a distinct emotional experience.
At a time when many public spaces are designed primarily for efficiency and circulation, Dream Land proposes slowness, imagination and participation as alternative ways of inhabiting the city. The work asks whether a public park can become a place that stimulates not only movement, but also wonder, memory and shared experience.
Developed through physical models and digital visualisations, the project explores public art as a catalyst for urban imagination. Dream Land proposes imagination not as an escape from reality, but as a fundamental condition for rethinking how contemporary cities can be experienced.
