This sculptural work reflects on the fragile nature of our environment, the trees bending to the winds and storms that frequent the west coast of Ireland. These storms are becoming more common, a worrying trend of global warming and environmental changes.
This sculpture is about renewal and regrowth after a prolonged period of dormancy. I have used dark colours to frame the work, with the ignition of new life at the centre. This small sculptural work was created by sifting enamel powders on to a copper vessel which was then fired at 910 degrees Celsius in a kiln until the enamel glass liquifies and forms a skin on the copper.
