Installation, 9 human figures, mixed techniques, collage, papier machée, plaster, 180x50x30 each, 2019
The travellers represent the connection between Heaven and Earth, symbolized through stages in a human’s life as well as steps in the
process of coming of age. This concept can be understood in two separate ways: first, the process of Heaven reaching for Earth is symbolized through the traveller who is, initially, without a body and who gradually
builds it until fully formed. Or, the process of Earth reaching for Heaven, where the traveller with a physical form
renounces their body. The concept of renouncing one's body, can, as well, be understood in two different
ways: the loss of the self or the transcendence of the physical world, so as to
become more spiritual (hence becoming a traveller between the two realms). The viewer is invited to step into the travellers’
circle and choose that which they want to become.
