This installation of copper, water, wine and oil with arboreal film was created during a summer residency near Lucca, Italy. Focusing on the source of life in the land and the alchemy of Apuani water to the local industries of wine and oil, the octagonal dimensions of the copper vessel were taken directly from a C15th well. Over a series of days the vessel contains water, then wine and then oil. A fixed frame film of the arboreal ecology that also shares this water source with local industry and supports local wildlife is projected above the installation to be reflected by the liquid surface, acting as a mirror, 'as above, so below'.
