(I have put together a link for a better overview of my work process)
The "P.S.27" series manifests itself as a documentation that culminates in a compilation of 12 photographs. The process leading to the creation of this work unfolds on various levels, and the large-format photographs visually presented show the terminal result of a recorded process divided into several phases.
The place of origin of the work, the entrance hall of the Vienna hospital AKH, has deep-rooted significance. This place holds a universal and yet intimate meaning. To interact with this place and capture its essence, the artist chose a specific method to remove a material from this place. Using a dehumidifier, water was extracted from the hospital's air and stored in a canister. The artist then used the obtained water to clean his bedsheet.
To dry the sheet, it was hung on a construction made of parts from a storage rack. The 12-hour drying process was photographed, but not with a conventional camera. The images were taken with a specially designed pinhole camera created from a paper shredder. The chamber where once shredded paper landed became the site for these snapshots.
Over a period of 12 hours, an image was taken every hour, which then had to be developed in a darkroom. The original images were enlarged a hundredfold on silver nitrate paper and then mounted on panels and framed.
The 12-part series offers insights into a comprehensive poetic concept that does not immediately reveal itself and only unfolds in its full depth. Instead, it invites further reflection and engagement.
