We live in a VUCA world: our existence is vulnerable, uncertain, complex and ambivalent. Institutions such as family, church, school, political party, etc., which used to provide a clear and narrow framework of orientation, are becoming less important. Modern man sees himself as an individual who takes responsibility for his own life, shapes an individual course of life, and must endure freedom and self-responsibility. Orientation in polycrises (keywords such as climate change with global warming, weather catastrophes, species extinction, overfishing and population increase, war, struggle for resources, migration, etc.) is characterized by an increasing darkening of the world. Orientation has become a complex, challenging, sometimes seemingly impossible enterprise. The choice remains between crisis, failure, struggle or fear, shame, death. And: hope remains.
