The main body of the installation Migration is made of a broken vase which I bought with its fragments in a glass shop in Cairo, Egypt.
The accidental process of a vase been broken can be compared with a hardship that can also shake the human spirit. Both events, hardship or accident can cause a loss of identity . In order to survive this trauma humans have to adapt, construct a new identity.
in the process, the broken vase is taken out of its context and suspended horizontally. Still remaining a vessel , once suspended horizontally and extended with papier mâché and metal rods it acquires the lightness of a bird.
The remaining broken glass pieces scattered on a sandy base on the floor convey the difficulty of the adaptation.
