When I choose to use this finely undulated recycled glass lamps shade, then modulated the plastic hose to form a transparent body I felt that the natural way to extend it would be with a ceramic shell that I had made sometimes ago. At that stage I still didn't know what how to complete the work and its meaning. Once this three elements were connected I found them related to the sea and more precisely suggesting the medusa.
The connection between the Medusa and the net was not far away in my imaginary mind. Once waiting for a boat in a greek port I witnessed the arrival of a fishing boat. Its nest that seems bigger than the boat was bulging with fishes and sea's creatures.
This work capture the tension between abundance and entrapment revealing the fragile relationship between human activity and the forces of the sea
The metallic net holding the sculpture needs to be suspended at eye site height.
