L’Alliance Project
With this project, entitled ‘The Covenant’, I sought to create a space for meditation, inspired by the simple, uncluttered atmosphere of small Protestant churches. I drew on the biblical text from Genesis (9:8–17), in which God establishes a covenant with humanity after the Flood, symbolised by the rainbow.
This installation takes the form of a simple arrangement: stools placed facing a white lectern holding a Bible opened at this specific passage. Placed on several of the stools are hand-made booklets, bound in the Japanese style, which emphasises the artisanal, humble and repetitive nature of the act, akin to prayer or meditation.
Inside the booklets, I have incorporated graphic motifs that I develop in my visual art, inspired by the idea of repetition and rhythm, as a silent echo of unspoken prayers or inner breaths. The colours chosen for each booklet discreetly reference the hues of the rainbow, creating a symbolic link between the booklets and the central biblical text.
I have deliberately left these booklets untitled and without any specific instructions to offer visitors complete freedom of interpretation and personal engagement. Above all, this project seeks to create a moment of pause, a simple space where one can sit, leaf through the pages, contemplate and, perhaps, reconnect with a sense of intimacy, somewhere between silence, spirituality and memory.
This installation was also exhibited at the Temple du Marais (a Protestant church in Paris) in April 2026.
