"Dependence"
Two animal skulls (goat and sheep), collected by the artist in the mountains after a long period of natural decomposition.
Galvanized metal pipes (hydraulic type), symbolizing the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.
Components and magnets with metal casings made from approximately 200 computer hard disks, which are mounted on the metal frame by magnetic attraction.
Description and documentation:
The choice of materials is entirely conceptual, not decorative; the skulls represent our natural origins and animal existence, serving as a reference to time, our organic basis and mortality.
The galvanized pipes refer to the beginning of the rapid technological development of human civilization. The Neodymium (Nd) magnets from hard disks embody the concepts of information and digital memory, as well as the modern technological body.
The gold teeth, inspired by Pop-Rap culture, suggest the idealization of material progress and social status, while simultaneously revealing their corrosive effect on human values and social relations.
The position and distribution of the materials is not arbitrary; The transformation of one figure’s hand into a tube that enters the mouth of the other is inspired by the practice of force-feeding ducks in industrial farms for the production of Foie Gras. This gesture symbolizes imposed consumption, the annihilation of autonomy, and the cruelty underlying the pursuit of luxury and abundance.
The magnets form an artificial 'flesh' that has begun to decompose. This seemingly robust hybrid body appears to be kneeling or crawling, with some parts having detached and fallen, forming a post-industrial sediment. This form embodies modern man: overloaded with information and technical expertise, yet alienated from his natural truth.
Ethical statement: No animals were killed or harmed in the production of this work. The organic remains were found by the artist in nature in a state of complete decomposition. This work is based on respect for life and uses materials that already existed as remnants of human and natural activity.
