The lower half holds the reflection of overhanging branches, dark silhouettes laid against the pale reflected sky, broken and re-formed where the ripples cross them. A few bare twigs pierce the surface, the only objects that are not reflection. At the right edge, a branch of actual foliage enters the frame, confirming a look downward and across. The composition sets the ordered geometry of the ripples against the wavering reflected branches, the patterns interlacing. The tonal palette holds to a near-monochrome of silver, slate, and warm gray. A heavy vignette closes all four corners. Shot in available light from above.
