UNFOLD 03 begins as a hand-built installation in the studio, a construction of light, reflective surfaces and industrial materials including mirrored planes, striped circular rings and geometric forms. The camera is present from the beginning, not to document what has been made but to complete it. Construction and recording are a single act.
What the lens reveals is something the hands could not have made alone, deep geometric shadows, architectural precision, striped forms casting blue light across pale space. And within that cool structure, persistent points of warmth: red orbs that hold their heat against the darkness. The construction has become something between a building and a sky, between a mechanism and a cosmos.
The loop is not a technical choice, it is a meditation on time as something felt rather than measured. Moments passing. Returning. Never quite the same.
UNFOLD 03 is a UV print on G.F. Smith Breeze paper, A2, edition of 5. The Breeze paper has a distinctive soft luminosity that extends the light quality of the original installation into the physical surface of the print itself.
