The Last Swan is a diptych built around a single gesture of unfolding. In one image, I lie stretched across a hedge, arms spread like wings, draped in silk printed with butterflies — caught between flight and collapse. In the other, I stand on a ladder against an old stone house, unfurling a length of patterned fabric like a sail. In both, the drapery becomes a stand-in for flight itself: a swan song, one last vivid gesture staged before an ending. I began this body of work three years ago, working almost entirely alone, returning again and again to the question of what it means to launch something — a body, a piece of fabric, a gesture — into the air and let it be seen
