Between Selves grew out of a chance encounter with costume: during a sale, I found myself with access to actual opera garments from the Palais Garnier — pieces built for roles, for other bodies, for other nights on stage. I staged self-portraits wearing and reinterpreting them, letting the costume's own theatrical weight take over — padded, swollen, half-sculptural, closer to armor than clothing. Alongside these, I photographed the carved faces and figures that populate the Opéra itself, caught mid-restoration, scaffolded, waiting. The work moves between these registers: the living body borrowing a role that isn't its own, and the stone bodies that have outlived every performer who passed beneath them. "Between Selves" is this suspension — between the self and the character, between flesh and sculpture, between what is worn and what is carved to last.
