Lonely_Lights
The world was uncertain when it was lit only by the trembling flames of candles. A world full of intimacy too, fragile victories against the darkness with its always a little threatening backgrounds. Candle lighting invites reverie and always signals, through its moving shadows, a presence-absence forcing the gaze to see further and deeper. These rare and thin lights have a scent of the Middle Ages, of beliefs in an “invisible” densely populated of devilish or reassuring forces.
It is not the images but our stares that tell stories. Is there still to “see” under the today harsh and all-consuming lights and do we still need images or have they disappeared leaving us alone in the face of our terrors?
The candles are lonely glows engaged in an unequal struggle with the darkness that, de facto, consumes them.
