During my trip to Las Vegas, I captured this moment, which I found fascinating. It shows what is clearly a fake nun standing beside another person, scantily dressed in a bold, almost sadomasochistic outfit. They appear to have just finished performing for the crowd and are now counting the money they have earned.
This scene immediately brought to mind Purgatory from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy—the realm of purification and atonement. A contemporary purgatory where "sinners" and "saints" alike must settle their accounts together in a magical and unique place such as Las Vegas.
