There is a subtle paradox in the concept of a "chosen destiny."
"R U confused? So Am I" was created in the beating heart of London, a crucial stop on a realistic and existential journey of mine, which began in Athens and passed through Florence. The artwork becomes the mirror of a voluntary displacement, one that is fertile but yet painful: the distance from our loved ones, the embrace of solitude, and the obstinate pursuit of one's dreams.
Visually, the structure that appears to be a metropolitan skyscraper reveals itself, in an almost mystical intuition, as an atypical library of the Akashic Records. It is the paradox of a chosen destiny, in which I usually become an external spectator of my own life. Through collage technique and painting, the windows of this condominium of the soul open onto photographic fragments of real places: intimate refuges that were, at the same time, psychological prisons to escape from.
I am, usually, interested in exploring existential reflections, recalling the confusion of a soul that yearns to fly but often remains trapped by the chains of family, social, and psychological conventions.
Already selected for the New York Art Biennale (NYBA 2013 - curated by Pietro Franesi), this artwork encapsulates a tale of my interior and realistic "geographies" – London, New York, Athens, Italy – arriving today in Venice.
