Making of „THE STAGE OF LIFE“:
More than 130 hours of work after taking the photo. For artwork, it takes over 15 steps to the finished result.
The artwork "The stage of life" is NOT a typical photo print.
It is a cyanotype on fabric, which consists of 36 individual parts. Analog and digital photographic techniques were combined for the artwork.

After photographing and complex image processing, the fabric is chemically prepared and cut by hand into 36 pieces.
Cyanotype is the third oldest photochemical process dating back to 1842, for which the artist mixes the light-sensitive chemistry and coats each piece with a brush.
Likewise, the exposure of the individual must be made 36 times. After further steps in photo development, the individual parts are elaborately sewn together. Two different types of sewing machines are used for this.
Likewise, the frame must be handmade, because it is not possible to use standard sizes due to the texture of the textile and the manual assembly of the individual parts.
During production, individual parts must be developed several times in order to achieve uniform toning in the artwork. Humidity, indoor & outdoor temperature, air pressure and etc. ... influence the analog photochemical process.
This is the special thing about the combination of digital and analog photography. While the digital image is a binary coded description, the analog image has a life of its own, the magic of uniqueness.
Because of this combination of historical and contemporary photographic techniques and the elaborate craftsmanship involved, it is impossible to make a duplicate. Not only is the entire work of art unique, but so each individual part of the artwork is unique.
The white-blue color reproduction is the photochemical characteristic of the cyanotype.
