Brigitte Gaggl *1978, born in Austria. She lives and works in Vienna and Zurich as a photographer and visual artist.
After studying business administration in Vienna, she trained as a photographer and videographer at the College for Photography and Audiovisual Media at Grafische XIV Vienna from 2000 onwards, followed by a master's degree in image science at Danube University Krems. During her master's thesis, she worked on journalistic war photography.
Focussing on aesthetic change and visual communication of conflicts through photography, her thesis proved to be particularly valuable for her photographic work, among other things for the further development of her own visual language.
Brigitte has been self-employed since 2006. Leveraging her extensive experience, she has also worked as a visual designer and a lecturer in adult education in Vienna and Zurich.
The passion to combine analogue and digital photography and to produce hybrid artworks with historical photographic processes becomes stronger every year. Because a picture is more than just a picture. It can inform, emotionalise and manipulate. It does something to the viewer. It sends you on a visual journey.
