Through the metaphor of hatching, Le Nid des évadés (The Nest of the Escapees) questions the emergence of ideas. The story and the photographic tableau interact to tell us about the genesis of a revolution. The dead wood mentioned in the text occupies the upper half of the scene and suggests that it is more alive than it appears. The eggshells evolve through different stages until the bottom of the story and the photograph, allowing their occupants to escape from the frame, symbolising the immateriality of the idea and its embodiment in reality.
