A story about the adventures of two flies, Johnny and Mr. Green. An NFT collection on the Polygon blockchain.
The project was conceived as a satire on the world of NFTs—a place where, at one time, people sold their own selfies, tweets, and anything else they could dream up for huge sums of money; one could even sell a photo of an ordinary fly if one wished. Johnny and Green were sourced from a stock photo site; no actual flies were harmed in the making of this project. Using Photoshop, Johnny and Green were given eyes, mouths, limbs, clothing, and weapons; they began concocting various storylines, cracking risqué jokes, and parodying famous figures and characters from movies and TV. The collection is a mosaic of 5,000 unique images, each one hand-crafted and hand-drawn over the course of a year. The collection also features an AI museum—don't forget to visit it!
A few words about the creation process: I used numerous items—toy clothing, weapons, and music tools—cut out from stock photos. Each NFT was then manually assembled, incorporating specific variations in clothing and objects, along with a monologue from either Johhnny or Green. The carefully chosen size of the flies on the screen and the marketplace magnets was intended to create the sensation that you are looking at a screen filled with flies: they talk, move around, and wear strange hats.
