La Scarzuola is the ideal city of Tomaso Buzzi, an Italian architect.
Taken on a 4x5" film and printed by photogravure, this photograph is the first one in a series of ideal cities.
Photogravure is an historical printing technique: a plate is created from the photograph, and it is inked and printed by an etching press. Tonal range and quality are vastly superior to glicée prints, and photogravure prints will last several hundred years.
